Ups` - Paradise

Nairobi - Mombasa - Ukunda, 700 km, 12 hours driving, ferry no. 4 on our trip...

... here we are...

...with Silvi and Peter...

...at their Villa "Wasili"...

...a perfect place with loveley people, 300 m from the...

...beach...

...life...

Also in pardise you have to repair some things...

..."Fundi" working a new "makuti"- roof at Peters` Villa...

...finishing after 6 days...

!...No pictures from the new-roof-party...!
...but it was great!!!

...ups` next morning...

...after roofparty...

...life is easy in paradise...

Yes,
after suffering in mud and rain for a long time,
after fixing the bikes,
after washing the clothes,
after a very exausting physical and psychical time for us,
this is the place to refill our tanks...

For those, who are interested at the situation of our bikes:
they are working perfectly!

We want to say THANK YOU to Peter - there are people in the world you just look in the eyes and you know you will understand each other easily - and it is an honour to find them!!!

Jambo Kenya!

Good bye Addis Abeba

from Addis south...

we are leaving Addis south-west
in order to cross the remote Omo-Nationalpark to enter Kenya on the Turkana-west-route,
a quite rural area without any services...

...black market petrol-station...

...in the middle of the bushes and rainforest in the mountains we found crazy birds,
baboons, and a lot of half-naked tribes with all kind of weapons in the little villages...

...morning just north of Omo-Nationalpark...

...but we get stucked totally, the tracks were full of water
and the terrain too difficult!

...two hours later...

...so we have to turn back 100 km before reaching the Kenyan border and make
again a lot of kilometers...

...very happy...

...so we have to drive 500 km east and 500 km south through the rift valley on
bad "african secondary roads"...

...crossing the rift-valley...

...and a python...

...to reach the Moyale-border to Kenya and find one of the hardest bars of our live...

..." bordercrossing" ...

...and the hardest pist in our life - Moyale, also called A2 - 500 km Moyale ...
...in rain...
... nothing can be more worse...

...fu.., fu.., fu.....
there were potholes to hide cars in...

...after the first crash, if the mud is not deep "enough" it´s getting slippery like on ice...

...moyale, Jambo Kenya...
...and we had to pay 20 $ roadtax each...

...in the end of the day the rain stopped and we found a save place
near to a police-station in the middle of nowhere

no, not on the northpole...

Second part of the 500 km Moyale"road":
at least the last 50 km of this hell are enjoyable !

...very southern part of the 500 km moyale,
sun, sand, fun - no more rain and mud -  no more hard work :)

Now we are sitting in Kenya - Nairobi, Jungle Junction - overlanders meetinpoint,
we renovated the bikes for 2 days, washed the clothes, try to stay dry...
...here is the "small" rainseason...
and looking forward to rest at the Kenyan beachside a few days...
before crossing Tansania
...to rest in Malawi for a while :)

Impressions of Ethiopia

Before leaving the camp in Khartoum, we came in contact with the national sudanis federation of handicaped people, they discussed 3 days about improving their situation

...here the result for a women in weelchair

After Khartoum it´s getting more and more africaaaa

typical subsaharian houses

Bordercrossing to Ethiopia

the nomads go north, with a lot of animals, but we drive south
and end up in a bordel at the border for the night,
no good sleep on a lot of flees

After crossing the border, everything changes - like a cut with a big knife, here some impressions:

Roads

road-

conditions

People

the girls

and the boys

the men
and, I put no pictures from the women, because
they are too beautiful, if you want to see them just
fly down here...

Friends

new friends, ups and a beautiful women

the gunman was compulsory to cross the Simien Mountains,
so i had him 5 days on my back, friends...

Surroundings

Blue Nile Falls, now in the end of rain-season the water is brown

the Landscape, Ethiopian Highland,
we move allways between 2500 and 4200 meters,
so our tent is frozen every morning

water falls not only from the mountains - we get
our first thunderstorms after 2 month

Religion

no more islam, now we are in orthodox territory
with its famous rock hewn churches

The way of working

rural farming

shoe for you
woodworks

So we want to show here only a few impressions about northern Ethiopia, to much different pictures are in our heads, so we do not have a fixed meaning about this country, and we are still in the middle of Ethiopia
in Addis Abeba, so we looking forward south.
Here in Ethiopia, the year has 13 month, time is totally different, for 7 am, ethiopians say 1 o`clock, because it is one our after sunrise and by the way, here they call not 2011, but 2004, so back to the future...
A lot of nice people, but also a lot of rock-throwing children, people who are shouting at us, extreme poverty, beautiful landscape, stopping at the steet for a piss ends after half minute with at least 50 people standing arround you watching...
our brains are under construction!

Sudan, tamam-tamam

After Visa-Marathon and Ferrybookings we are looking forward to Sudan

Aswan, South End of Egypt

We was very lucky, the ferry from Aswan to Wadi Halfa in Sudan took also our bikes, so we had not to wait for the Vehicle-Ponton which arrive in Wadi Halfa some days after the ferry.
